Crossing the Border into Culinary Crazy Land? – AROMA CUCINA

Culinary kooks?  Guilty as charged. Indictment includes eating local and in season.   We are thereby sentenced to a life of food and travel, are serving our time accordingly, and deliciously repaying our debt to society.

Introducing the Anchovy:  AROMA CUCINA

Be open minded…and open mouthed! Fresh anchovies are not what you think.  They are deliciously clean and fresh tasting and can be prepared a number of ways.  Here’s how they do it on isola di Ponza, and they have it down!

Nothing speaks freshness like shrimp right out of the Meditteranean (gamberi rossi). This is summer cooking Italian style!

FOOD Meets ART in Venezia & Bologna: AROMA CUCINA

http://bit.ly/13iyr6v

We are proud citizens of the magic and diversity that make up the Italian universe.  Our 1st stop Venice where the Biennale is in full swing ready to stir your creative juices with a feast for the senses.  Then onto Bologna for a gourmand’s delight.  And, we get to share it all with friends along the way.  Not too shabby!

‘Tis the season, so get it while the getting’s good!  Here’s 4 ways to use up that big bunch of asparagus that you overbought.  And if you happen to be lucky enough to find the wild variety…

Bells & Balls (Part 2): http://bit.ly/18bvqcg

Missing bells and long lost balls.  We’re mourning both, and a heartfelt farewell to my dear friend Daniel Lang.

Re-entry Italian Style:

Step 1:  Aperitivi in the piazza, or cocktails on the roof…tough decision.

Step 2:  Communal dining family style.  Who’s got what to pool the dinner options.

Step 3:  Plan and plant the orto with a little (a lot!) of help from my friends.

We’re back!

AROMA CUCINA is back in the blog world, back in Italia and loving life!  Please join us.

Baci,

Jeff & Jude

A not-to-be-missed culinary event in SF.  Bring your appetite!

I would like to take this opportunity to announce that IACP (International Assoc. of Culinary Professionals) will be holding their 35th Annual Conference in San Francisco this year from April 6 – 9, 2013.

The conference attendees include chefs, restaurateurs, food and travel writers, food bloggers, editors and publishers, cookbook authors, food photographers and stylists, culinary schoolteachers, publicists, and TV personalities.

On Sunday, April 7th (12:30-4:30pm) is the Culinary Expo and Book & Blog Festival which will be open to the public for an admission fee of $25.00. It is being held in The Concourse at the SF Design Center (635 8th St at Brannen).

This high profile event is much more than just a trade show. It is a networking and educational event where exhibitors will be presenting their products and services to the most recognized, respected and influential food personalities and newsmakers in the culinary world.

In an effort to highlight the host city and support its purveyors, IACP has created a Taste of the Bay pavilion within the Expo to showcase local artisans and their wares.

There will also be in attendance national and international culinary organizations such as Slow Food, BlogHer , FDA, as well as local culinary orgs that have helped make San Francisco the culinary destination it has become: CUESA, SFPFS, WCR, La Cocina, 5 local chapters of Edibles Magazine, and Good Food Awards/ Seedling Projects.

The Book & Blog Festival gives one a chance to connect with their favorite food writers and get autographed copies of the season’s best books.

This is the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon if you are passionate about food, and who isn’t?

Please help us promote this a not-to-be-missed event. Thank you!

Regards,

Jeff Albucher
Culinary Expo Committee Chair
